COVID- 19

I wanted to document about the corona virus pandemic. We started hearing and seeing news in early March. They announced on March 13th that all Louisiana schools were closing on March 16th. It seemed more serious at that point. People didn't know if the stores would be open, so we stocked up on groceries. The shelves of paper products, cleaning supplies, and hand sanitizer went fast and were hard to find for weeks. Groceries were gone like bread and shelf stable items and all cold medicines. Not knowing how long it would last and if people had to stay home, everyone was stocking up on groceries.
3/9/20- Louisiana's first positive case announced
3/11/20 -The World Health Organization declares it a pandemic
3/13/20- All Louisiana public school are closed until April 13th, prohibits gatherings of more than 250 people
3/16/20- Governor Edwards bans gatherings of more than 50 people. Restaurants, bars, gyms and movie theaters close. Pick up, drive thru and delivery stay open.
3/23/20- Stay at Home Order goes in effect until April 12th. Only essential businesses stay open. Gatherings banned on over 10 people.
3/31/20- Governor Edwards extends the Stay at Home Order until April 30th

Schools had to send home packets or do online work. We are doing school as usual. Our schedule is a little more relaxed some days since there wasn't anywhere we had to be after.
Josh kept working full time as usual. A few weeks in, they started wearing masks, taking temperatures when entering the gate and social distancing.
We are spending a lot of outside time and the weather has been nice
Our neighbor cut a path in the woods behind our houses. It's nice and shaded. You can walk, ride bikes or 4 wheelers through it. Hudson loves going back there.

Our take on the Chalk Your Walk challenge
Camo loves to be outside and sit on the patio. He wants to go outside just to sit on the patio furniture.
 Riding bikes
Jen was staying at Mom's for a week while their house was painted. We rode bikes with them a few times.
riding on the levee
Did a bear hunt through the Oaks
My sister in law, Jennifer, had the idea to paint rocks and hide them in the Oaks and by the levee. We found a few on our hunt and rides.
Other people joined in and made more
Gianna wanted to bake a lot. We made chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins and no bake cheesecake. We ate a good bit, but were being active. Hopefully it balanced out!
Jessica Dupuy made a scavenger hunt for the kids to do around Port Allen. I took the kids on bikes to do it and we had fun!  It was through the area where Josh and I grew up and it brought back memories. We were going to Clark's Creek that morning with Josh's family, but Josh pulled his back out while loading up the ice chest! He felt so bad to disappoint the kids!
Nana Angie had an idea to do a neighborhood scavenger hunt. Each family went in their own car and competed against each other to find all the items.

We did the streets around our house

We couldn't find Christmas lights! We drove into Port Allen and found some and won! It was a fun family activity.
We wanted to do something nice for our friends and maybe bring a little joy during this time. We made Easter bags and dropped them off to their doors. It took us about 45 minutes to the drop offs.

The kids were nervous and would run to the door and back!

They did coloring and painting

A cool front came through on April 3rd and Hudson did a fire.
One Saturday morning Josh and Hudson set up the tent.
They "camped" all day, but wouldn't sleep in their by themselves
Our church girls did a social distancing coffee date in the CC's parking lot. It was so good to see everyone and catch up!
4/15/20- Louisiana schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Remote learning will continue.
4/27/20- Stay at Home order is extended until May 15th with new restrictions. Malls could do curbside orders, restaurants can open patio seating and all employees that serve the public must wear masks
5/1/20- Churches could hold outside services with certain restrictions
5/11/20- Governor announced the Stay at Home order would be lifted and enter into Phase One on May Our local playgrounds opened on June 17, 2020. The splash parks stayed closed.15th.
We did mostly pick up orders. Josh tried to go to Sam's one day and the line was so long that he didn't go. The stores started limiting the number of people in at a time. During Phase one we went into stores a little.
It is very hard to wear a mask, it feels like you can't breathe. I had to wear one when the kids went to the dentist and the paper one was better than a cloth one.
One of the harder things for us was not going to church. Josh continued to go for worship and less than 10 people could be in the building. It was the first time we streamed on Facebook live. It was hard for me to watch from home, too many distractions.
Josh's first time preaching online. He said it was strange preaching to a camera. Gianna thought she should be able to go to church because she was the second preacher's first daughter!

We did our ladies and men's meeting over Zoom. It was good to be able to "meet up" during these times and encourage one another.
We had two services outside before going back into the building, It was nice weather and the kids did well sitting in the back of the truck.
Josh preached the first outside service. He was glad to have people in the audience and everyone was happy to be in person for church.

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

March 2025

4-H shooting regionals was held the week of March 17th. Hudson had archery on Tuesday.  He placed 4th in his category and was going to state! Josh was out there all week since he is a coach  Hudson had shot gun events on Friday and Saturday.  Coach Mr. Donald and team They pray before they start  Kaden made it to state in shotgun This was his first year shooting advanced shot gun and it was tougher, but we are proud of him for trying it.  Hudson finished his driver's ed class. He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
