Jennifer hosted a back to school breakfast on September 1, before we started school.
It was very cutely decorated, they played games and got candy and gifts to use in school.
Nana made them some nice binders full of fun stuff
Our first day of school was September 4, 2018.

Jennifer gave me this really cute shirt, so I wore it for the first day.
Josh came by to wish them well
They filled out their info sheets from the binder.
Neither one of them are fans of writing spelling words
Distracted...
and goofy!
Sometimes Daddy brings the teacher a treat when she is having a bad day :)
This year I wanted to do more art and fun projects. In September we did apple theme art. We did apple stamp art.
Apple tree
Milk and food coloring art
Hudson made a bubble chain with dish soap and a pool noodle
Hudson was trying to get Gianna to do his Bible work for him. She was willing to do it as a sweet sister.
Hudson enjoyed identifying animals in science
We tried a schedule this year. We don't always stick to it, but it was helpful for the kids to look at it. Still have to teach them separately which takes longer. A lot of days we finish after 1:00.
Our reward system changed to tickets for good conduct and attitude during school. They save up their tickets to cash in for a prize or activity. It has worked well.
We joined a homeschool 4H club that meets in Addis once a month. I thought it would be a good chance to meet people and add to their activities. Grace and Kaden also joined. They do an activity at each meeting. The first one was rockets with Alka seltzer tablets.
Hudson is doing archery through 4-H. They have had a few practices, but we found out he can't compete because he isn’t age 10 by January.
He likes the 3D targets
We have taken a few field trips with the homeschool group we met at 4-H. We went to Colonial Christmas at Audobon Historic Site
We went around to stations that told us about Christmas traditions during colonial times.
Hunting for Christmas dinner
Decorations for the tree and gifts
Listening to a Christmas story
Playing children's games
Writing with quill pens and ink
Learning how to waltz
Walking around the grounds
We went to Ramagos Farms in Plaquemine to learn about sugar cane farming.
It was a lot of information, but they liked when we went out to the fields to see the harvester in action.
Tasting a cane stalk, they didn’t think it was sweet
4-H was having a cookie contest for Christmas. Gianna wanted to enter. She picked polar bear cookies to make. Our icing didn’t have a tip when we opened it and it was 7:30 pm, so we tried our best to salvage the cookies. She won prettiest cookie out of 4 entries and was happy!
