Gianna finished 1st grade. Her reading progressed over the year and she really grasped the phonic sounds in Abeka. She did not like writing a lot and needs improvement in her handwriting. Math was her favorite subject.
On April 4th she wanted to run away from home. I fussed at her in the classroom and found her in her room packing a bag! She was upset because I hollered at her. She was packing clothes and stuffed animals in a booksack.
She learned how to drive the go cart
She likes to do a lot of art and cuts out the pictures on her worksheets and glues them on paper. We didn't do a lot of projects this year. Hopefully, next year we can since we will be in more of a routine.
Hudson finished 3rd grade. After we came back from Christmas break, I felt like we started over with Hudson. It was hard for him to focus and concentrate especially in math. He did like doing school outside, which we did a lot when the weather was nice. His favorite subject was history. (His first answer was lunch)
He learned how to write a thank you note in language and sent his to Nana
He wore his coon skin hat when he took his quiz on Daniel Boone
His answer on #8 was supposed to be red coats
We tried a few different reward types for motivation during the year.
If all the stars were gone, no candy that day
Our last day was May 4, 2018. They both said that they like homeschooling and we plan on doing it again next year. We had our good days and our bad days, but it was a pretty good year. There is stuff that I would have liked to go different, but we kept going and made it through!
I'm proud of the kids for adjusting and growing in this new environment. It was a blessing to be more involved in their everyday life. It was a lot of discipline and addressing behavior, but I'm glad that I can help their character and spiritual life grow.
To celebrate we took them to Area 51 and Yogurtland
