Jennifer and I celebrated our 32nd birthday at my mom's house on the night before. She cooked dinner and made a cake for us.
My birthday was on a Sunday, so Josh took me out to eat after church and we got pedicures. Yes, he did! And no he wouldn't let me take any pictures.
Jen and I did a little shopping that afternoon and got coffee
Our 10th wedding anniversary was on Wednesday February 24th. We had a tax appointment that morning and Josh had other stuff going on, but we did get to grab a quick lunch.
Gianna was there too :)
Since it was a big anniversary we decided to do a trip. After going over a few ideas we went with a cabin in the mountains since it's still cold in February. We decided on Hot Springs, Arkansas. It took about 7 hours to get there with stops. We left on a Sunday morning and stayed 3 nights.
First stop- Billy's in Krotz Springs for boudin. That was Josh's breakfast 😄.
The drive wasn't bad at all. We arrived at our cabin around 3:00 that afternoon.
The property was on Lake Hamilton and the views from the cabin were nice. It was also very close to town where we could eat out and shop.
More pictures of the place we stayed. It had a deck area, "beach" for swimming in the summer, row boats and piers. I think it would be a fun place to go in the summer as well.
That afternoon, we went downtown and checked out the natural hot springs and tasted the water. The water was 140 degrees coming out of the mountain.
Monday the weather was perfect! We brought our bikes to ride. We drove about 20 minutes to a state park. They had a paved trail with a brook running along side of it.
That trail wasn't very long, so we decided to try the hiking trails. We decided to do two trails.
One took us by a waterfall
The other one over saw a dam on Lake Katherine. We went the long way and ended up hiking over 6 miles. It was harder than I thought! My legs were hurting the next day. It was worth it- everything was so beautiful!
Taking a little break on the way back...
Tuesday started out raining, but cleared up right before lunch. We looked in some souvenir shops in town. Then we toured an original bath house and saw how it looked in 1915 when people came for the healing waters from the hot springs. It was really interesting.
I did the mineral bath at Buckstaff. It's still in operation since they opened in 1912. I wanted to soak my legs from the hiking. It was relaxing and I think it helped.
We had a great time together! It was a trip we both enjoyed and had good quality time together. I'm so thankful and blessed to be married to my best friend. I am very proud to call him my husband. 10 years sure went by fast! Looking forward to many, many more years together.
