5 year well check/Rocketkidz

I took Hudson for his 5 year check up last week and I didn't know, but there were a lot of routine tests he had to do. He did a vision and hearing test, blood work and urine sample. If I had known, I could have prepared him for the tests. He did really well though!

He weighed 42 lbs (50%) and is 3'9.5" tall (90%).
For the vision test, he sat in a booth with headphones and had to hit a button when he heard a sound. He looked so scared, just sitting there with no expression on his face.

For the vision test, he looked through a machine at pictures and say what he saw. He teared up a little for the blood work, but it was over quick. All of his test results were normal.

Rocketkidz 2014

Hudson, Leilynn and Emerie did the rookies triathlon again this year. Hudson was nervous after we signed him up. He did that last year and did great, so we were sure he could do it again. Josh took off his training wheels a while back and that's what he was nervous about. We practiced with him and he could do it by himself, but he was still scared. We prayed with him and encouraged him that he could do it. I had a lot of anxiety as a kid and my mom gave me 2 Timothy 1:7 to read. I was quoting it and some others to him to help get him through his fears.

Hudson was in the 5/6 year old non swimmer division (with floaties)
Josh got in the pool with him and he didn't end up using his floaties. He swam 50 yards in 2:11.

Parents couldn't go in the transition area or be on the bike course. Josh put his training wheels back on since he would be by himself. Hudson felt a lot better about that. I was a little worried on how he would do by himself, but he did great! He rode 1 mile in 9:46.

Emerie was pumping those legs and going fast!

Hudson ran .5 mile in 4:57
We were running around trying to see him on the course and I got this shot of Josh running along side of him.

Emerie almost to the finish line!

Hudson and Emerie finished, then we watched Leilynn in the 7-10 year old division
Grace came to cheer on Hudson

She had a cramp in her side and struggled on the run, but did great on the swim and bike.
We were so proud of Hudson for getting out there, trying his best and having fun!

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
