January 2025

We signed Hudson up for driver's ed at Jennifer's Driving School. The classes were January 11, 12, 18 and 19th from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. He had to have a TIP card before starting the class. It is hard for me to think that we are already here! I was tearing up in the DMV 😢 He did good in the classroom and passed the written test with an 80.
We had some really cold weather around the 15th with freezing temps. We put a warming light bulb in the chicken coop. One day our neighbor texts us that the coop is smoking. It was on fire! He put the fire out. The light had fell and was touching the wood. There was damage to one side, but were able to fix it and still use two nesting boxes.

what was left from the light
There was a chance of snow, but in Louisiana you never know what to expect. We woke up to a lot of snow on January 21st. We received 7 inches of snow! The temperature at it's lowest was 7 degrees. We had prolonged periods of subfreezing temps, so it was a rare event!

Seeing snow falling was a first for us. It kept falling for hours and was so pretty!
Camo didn't mind at all. He was playing in it, but kept getting ice balls on his legs.

The kids were pulling each other on the kayak
making snow angels
We tried the maple candy and snow ice cream with the snow from outside

Josh had to stay in Baton Rouge at a hotel for two nights. They didn't want him to be stuck on this side of the bridge. He was not happy. He used snow tire chains for the first time. We had backup plans and were ready if we lost power or gas.
The chickens would not go out in the snow, but ate some
The snowman was hard to build, but we got it done
Camo tried to grab the carrot nose!

They convinced me to take a ride on the kayak and almost flipped
Such a fun day and memory for us!
Josh came home on the afternoon of the 22nd
A little left on the 23rd, but mostly melted
Jennifer hosted an early Galentine's dinner. We decorated sugar cookies with royal icing.
Some of mine and Gianna's cookies

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

March 2025

4-H shooting regionals was held the week of March 17th. Hudson had archery on Tuesday.  He placed 4th in his category and was going to state! Josh was out there all week since he is a coach  Hudson had shot gun events on Friday and Saturday.  Coach Mr. Donald and team They pray before they start  Kaden made it to state in shotgun This was his first year shooting advanced shot gun and it was tougher, but we are proud of him for trying it.  Hudson finished his driver's ed class. He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
