Oklahoma Trip

We did family vacation with the Russo's to Broken Bow, Oklahoma. It is a closer mountain area that seems to be getting popular, so we decided to try it. We left Monday November 28th and came back on Sunday December 4th. Kaden rode in our car. We had a lot of luggage, we had to get a roof bag for the top of our car.

We got to the cabin around 4 pm including stops and at Walmart. It wasn't a bad drive.
It had a nice fire pit area and the boys started making a fire right away
The first day (Tuesday)was the warmest of the days we were there. The kids were checking out the cabin area.
They had a loft with shuffle board and foose ball up there. The kids slept up there in the bunk beds.
That afternoon we went to Hochatown Rescue Center & Pettin Zoo. We held a brown skunk that was very big and squishy. It was smelly inside the place.
There were lots of deer outside and they were so friendly. We got corn to feed all the animals.
Goats and emu
Up close to a buck
They had all kinds of animals
Inside another little barn were racoons, fox, kangaroo and puppies
We walked next door to a gift shop
That night we went to eat at a pizza place called Grateful Head. It was very good!
We went for ice cream after at Okie Girls Coffee and Ice Cream. I had affogato, which is an espresso shot over ice cream. It was really good! I think everyone liked what they got.
On Wednesday morning we took some pictures before leaving for horseback riding

We went to Riverman Trail Rides for a one hour ride. We all had to wear orange vests for safety. Josh couldn't ride because of his hip and his parents stayed also. It was very cold that morning.
Off we go
We had to go across a pasture
My horse did not want to leave the pasture and the guide had to pull us with a rope! I was so embarrassed!
We went down a road and then up a hill
The view from the top was pretty over looking a river
It was a fun time
We had lunch at the Blue Rooster
On the way back to the cabin, we stopped at Sasquatch's Candy Den. It was a really cute candy store.
On Thursday, we were going to Beaver's Bend State Park. The directions led us to the wrong spot.
We got out and looked at the lake anyway. The wind was whipping across the water and it was so cold!
A doe and a fawn. We would end up seeing quite a few deer.
The drive was pretty
Stopped in the visitor's center to look at the gift shop
They had a museum type thing with all the history of the area with replica town

We did the Tree Trail that was 1.29 miles
It ran through the woods and a creek along side of the trail
We found a place to have a picnic lunch. The boys fished some.
Stopped in the nature center
On the way out of the park we stopped at a look out point
Jennifer and Cadie took the kids down the rocks close to the water

Stopped at the hydro dam and saw people fishing
Hudson had to go and fish
Deer would be around the cabin when we would get back
We did a fire and smores that night
Friday was a rainy, gloomy day. We ended up going to the Beaver's Bend Mining Company for the kids to do something. It didn't take them long to sift their gemstones and arrow heads.
We went souvenir shopping in the afternoon
On Saturday, we went to the Hochatown Maze. It is a huge wooden maze with towers and a card to stamp on our way through.
Hudson and Kaden were together
Josh and I did it together
Gianna and Grace were on a team
We struggled and were going in circles. We saw the kids going past us and asked them for help. We finally made it out!
We brought the kids to play mini golf at Old West Mini Golf

All the girls rode around the neighborhood that afternoon to look at the cabins and construction. It was a nice view at the top.
It was a nice trip with everyone. Even if there were not a lot of things to do, we enjoy being together and getting away from home.

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

4-H shooting regionals was held the week of March 17th. Hudson had archery on Tuesday.  He placed 4th in his category and was going to state! Josh was out there all week since he is a coach  Hudson had shot gun events on Friday and Saturday.  Coach Mr. Donald and team They pray before they start  Kaden made it to state in shotgun This was his first year shooting advanced shot gun and it was tougher, but we are proud of him for trying it.  Hudson finished his driver's ed class. He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
