Snow Day, Again!

We had another chance for a wintry mix on January 16th and that evening it started to sleet and ice was falling.

Close to dark it turned to snow and we could see flakes falling. Gianna didn't go back out that night because it was too cold. Hudson had been waiting all day on the snow and he played in it for a while.

When we woke up the next morning, there was about an inch of snow covering the yard.

The rain had frozen so the driveway was slippery. Gianna fell when she was walking to the front of the house.

The water was dripping overnight and it froze like an icicle

The roads were icy and the bridge was closed. People were told to stay off the roads if possible. Josh was home and didn't know what to do with himself. So, he went in his shop and cooked gumbo.
I let the kids off for the first snow day, but we didn't need to take off another day. I let them play out in the morning and we started a little later. Hudson warmed up by the fire while we did science.

Hudson could play in the snow for hours! He loved it. He had a toy tractor and was on the ground pretending to plow the snow. It did stick around for another day since the temperature didn't get over freezing.

They were getting a little bored being home for a few days. We made snowflakes out of coffee filters.

I had them do a kids exercise video to help get some energy out

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
