Getting Ready for School

We are doing home school this year. It was mostly for financial reasons and the cost of private school. I did not want to work more or full time to send them to school. It doesn't seem worth it to me, so I would rather spend more time with them and do school at home than the stress of being away all day and the hectic afternoons. The more that we were led to home school, the more it felt right for us.

I started getting ready in June. We cleaned out our extra bedroom to use for our classroom. Then, we decided to move Hudson in that room and use his old room for school because it is bigger.

We need to hang up his wall stuff and maybe get new curtains. Josh and Papa added can lights in a few of the rooms.
I got this table and three chairs from Facebook marketplace. I also found a rug from there and it is like new.

I found chalk paint in a spray can. Josh and I painted them a charcoal color and white legs on the table. It got left out and got wet, so the top didn't dry properly. We still need to seal it because the spray sealer wasn't enough.
Josh made a frame for our map from Dollar Tree

Jennifer let me use her classroom printables and they really added to the room
One closet is for our school supplies and the other is Josh's hunting closet.

We got an inflatable globe and flags from Amazon. (still need that wall file hung) Gianna wanted to add the mint green baskets because she loves that color. Plus, they were only .98¢ at Walmart!
She has loved playing school in there for weeks

After the room was mostly set up, I got supplies and started the lesson planning. Jennifer was a huge help in that area! I have spent a lot of time at this table working on the first month of school. It has become a space that I like to sit in even when it's not school related. Josh asked me how I was feeling about school. I said anxious, yes. Nervous, yes. Scared, yes. Excited, yes. I am feeling all kinds of emotions as it gets closer. I really am looking forward to it and hopeful that it works for all of us. Mrs. Angie and Jennifer have been very encouraging and helpful as we start this new adventure.

This is a scripture that I like and want to add it in the room somewhere. My prayer is that they learn through their studies, but more importantly that their foundation is built through Jesus.

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

4-H shooting regionals was held the week of March 17th. Hudson had archery on Tuesday.  He placed 4th in his category and was going to state! Josh was out there all week since he is a coach  Hudson had shot gun events on Friday and Saturday.  Coach Mr. Donald and team They pray before they start  Kaden made it to state in shotgun This was his first year shooting advanced shot gun and it was tougher, but we are proud of him for trying it.  Hudson finished his driver's ed class. He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
