Trip to Huntsville

Most of my family went to Huntsville for a visit and Nash's birthday party. Josh couldn't go because of work. My mom rode with me and the kids. Jamie and her family went up the day after us. We originally planned on making the whole drive (8 hours) in one day. Then, my mom had sciatic nerve problems and needed to split it up.

I made sure to bring lots of activities and things for the kids to do along with snacks, drinks and candy.
We left Thursday afternoon and Gianna did not sleep like I thought she would. Hudson did pretty well, but Gianna had a harder time. They liked when we stopped at a gas station and got some treats.
It worked better to drive half way and spend the night. We got to the hotel earlier enough for us to go swimming.
Friday morning we left Mississippi for Jen's house.
Hudson slept some, but once again Gianna did not.
It was good to get to Jen's house. Nash and Jetta were sleeping, so when they woke up it took a little while for Jetta to warm up.
Nash and Hudson immediately started playing.
The ice cream truck came down and they all got something. It was Hudson and Gianna's first ice cream truck experience.
It was so messy, but so good!
We took the kids to the YMCA which has a nice kid's area inside.

Hanging out

 Leilynn did pigtails on Gianna

Gianna got her first hair cut by Gigi and she did great! She didn't cry at all. I had her watching something on my phone.

Now, her hair is even curlier than before.

Saturday afternoon was Nash's robot party at their house.

After the party, the kids asked to go to the park. The weather was so nice up there. A very nice break from Louisiana's heat and humidity.

Hudson is scared of heights and he will tell you that himself. This was a good way to help overcome his fear.

Sunday afternoon was spent at the outdoor mall riding the train and eating ice cream.

Monday was my mom's birthday, so we took her out to lunch before heading back to Mississippi.

Our last attempt at a group picture...

Gianna finally slept on both of the rides home. She was very tired by then.
Had enough of the traveling! (she also had a cold and congestion at the time)
Stickers were keeping her entertained for a while. At least they used some of the activities I brought.

It is always good to see Jen and her family, but it was harder traveling with the kids. We missed Josh and were ready to get home to see him too.

She did a great job! The ballet and pointe dances were so powerful and beautiful this year! I always get teary when I watch and this year was no different.  I volunteered on Sunday for the last showcase I was with a class next to Jules and got to watch some of her dances from back stage.  Gianna and Jules were both in this showcase, so my parents came to watch on Sunday A long weekend for the big girls, but they love doing it

He got a 98 on the driving portion.  We celebrated Josh's 45th birthday at his parent's house. His mom made lasagna.  The beans were an inside joke  I made him Granny Lois' lemon pound cake  We went to lunch for Jamie and Leilynn's birthdays at Building 5 I gave Jamie a kitchen towel with Granny's pound cake recipe. She loves that cake and I have been wanting to make it for her. She loved it and cried.

February 2025

The girls had dress rehearsal for dance. I went on the Thursday class on the 6th. We got to see a preview of the dances.  Hudson had his first driving session on February 10th. He has to do 8 hours of driving with 2 hours being at night. I waited in the parking lot until he left. We did pretty good waiting while he was gone, but we kept checking Life 360. He said it was fine, I thought he was a little nervous. Afterward, he said it was no big deal. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since he has been driving off road vehicles since he was young.  We spent Valentine's Day at home and made pizzas.  My birthday was on a Friday and I had work. Josh surprised me with an orchid for my desk.  I had lunch with some of my family at Albashas. Dillon was in town for something else and was able to come to lunch.  We celebrated our 19th anniversary by going to The little Big Cup in Arnaudville.  The food was really good. I had the crab cake and eggplant stack and Josh h...
