We took a 4 day trip (plus 2 traveling days) to Alabama to see my sister and her family. This was our first road trip with both kids. We borrowed my in laws camper to stay in while we were there. The original plan was to go the whole way in one day, which is about 8-9 hours of driving. As it got closer, I thought it would be better to split it into two days because I wasn't sure about how Gianna would do.
Nash and Hudson were happy to see each other and got along really well. I think Hudson was glad to have a boy to play with and do boy type things.
Gianna and Jetta did fine too. Gianna is a little rough and Jetta would cry sometimes.
Jetta is such a good baby, we barely knew she was there.
Gianna was off a little with all the changes, but it wasn't too bad. When we got back home she went right back to normal.
We went to a park that was really nice with a playground, dog park, trails and a creek.
hanging out in the camper
One evening, we went down town to walk around and feed ducks, but it was mostly geese. Lots of geese! They are aggressive, but Hudson was chasing them off.
We had dinner at an outdoor shopping mall, Bridge Street. The boys rode the carousel, played with chalk and listened to music.
It was a cute idea, but it does look like an outline of a dead body :)
Josh read books to the kids on our last night. Nash and Jetta are so sweet and it's fun to see them in person and their little personalities. We had such a great visit and wish we could do it more often!
They had a caboose to look at and Hudson thought it was so cool
Poor Gianna got a cold and was ready to be home
Hudson was tired of hearing Gianna cry! It was good to be home and back to a regular routine. Hudson did pretty well and I think when Gianna gets older she will travel better. For a few days after, she hated being in her carseat.
We were happy with the decision to split it up because Gianna didn't do as well as we thought she would. They did sleep some, but I had to sit with Gianna and entertain her a good bit.
The half way point was Meridian, Mississippi. We stayed there for one night both ways. We all liked staying in the camper and having the family time together. Josh did most of the cooking, which was fine with me :)
Hudson was so excited to go camping. It was an adjustment for them sleeping in the same room, but it got better.
In Huntsville, we stayed next to the Space & Rocket center. We got to watch the kid's shoot their test rockets in the field next to the RV park. It was fun for Hudson to watch and we even snagged some rockets and parachutes that were left.

We hung out a lot at their house and just did normal kid activities.

She looks like she is so old sitting in this little chair!

On the way back home, the campground had a pool. It was nice to relax after hours of driving.
